The role
Mobility & Social Care is a new open access journal for research on how migration and mobility shape care, welfare and social services. We are looking for a section editor to look after manuscripts in their area of expertise.
As a section editor you will:
- Handle four to six manuscripts a year, from first reading to recommendation
- Invite reviewers and follow the review through to the end
- Read the reports and recommend a decision to the Editor-in-Chief, with a short note for the authors
- Give authors clear, constructive guidance on revisions
- Help the journal attract strong submissions in your area
You work on the journal's own platform: every manuscript, review and decision is in one place, and typesetting and production are handled for you. Section editors are listed on the journal's website with their institution and country.
Who we are looking for
- A doctorate and a publication record in migration, social care, social work or a related field
- Experience of peer review, and ideally of editorial work, for international journals
- Fair, constructive judgement and attention to research ethics
- Good written English
We welcome colleagues from different countries and institutions, including early-career researchers with strong reviewing experience.
How we decide
The Editor-in-Chief of Mobility & Social Care reviews the applications after the closing date and replies to every applicant, usually within four weeks. Appointments are for three years and can be renewed. The role is voluntary, and there is no fee for applying or for joining the board. Read our editorial appointments policy.
