Corrections and retractions

How published articles are corrected, updated or retracted.

The published version of an article is the version of record. Changes after publication are made openly.

  • Corrections: errors that do not affect the conclusions are corrected in a new version of the article. The article page shows the version history with a note explaining each change.
  • Retractions: articles with serious errors or evidence of misconduct are retracted, and a retraction notice explains the reason.
