Guide for reviewers

What we ask of reviewers and how the review form works.

Thank you for reviewing. Peer review on our journals is double-blind: you see an anonymised manuscript, and the authors never see your name.

Accepting an invitation

Accept only if the manuscript is within your expertise and you can meet the deadline. Decline if you have a conflict of interest, for example if you know or suspect who the authors are.

Writing the report

  • Answer the questions in the review form and choose a recommendation.
  • Write comments to the authors that are specific, constructive and courteous.
  • Use the confidential comments for anything only the editor should see.

Confidentiality

Keep the manuscript confidential and do not upload it to AI tools or share it with others. Your name, title and institution are kept in the journal's confidential review record, which is shared only with indexing bodies that require it.
